| Acquire | 8.0 | Very interesting theme, excellent mecanics, simple rules, some interaction, but a bit too much of downtime. |
| Age of Napoleon | - | |
| Age of Steam | 8.0 | It's been a long time since i've had such a good impression about a game. It is a game of managing a railway company. You build tracks and link cities in order to create a transportation connection between 2 cities and produce income. The mecanics are simples, intuitive and not too brain burner. You play easily in less than 4 hours. I enjoy the theme. Very good simulation. One of my favorites longer games. |
| Age of Steam Expansion #3 - Scandinavia and Korea | 8.0 | |
| Aladdin's Dragons | - | |
| Antike | 8.0 | What a great game! It is a brilliant civ game. Manage your resources, develop your knowledge and manage your influence. Much better than the brain burner Wallenstein and much lower ranked. A bit long though for what it is. |
| Attika | 8.0 | It is a wargame, for sure. Great in many aspects (interaction, length, simplicity) dispite the painted theme. |
| Ave Caesar | 8.0 | Interesting and simple. Good for kids or for your gaming group when everybody wants to have fun or bet on stgh. |
| Axis Allies | - | |
| Backgammon | 5.0 | |
| Balloon Cup | 6.0 | Quite fun. Not as quick as Lost Cities, but still managable under 45 min. |
| Bang! | - | Still unopened box. |
| Basari | 6.0 | Light and fun. |
| Battle Cry | 7.0 | |
| Battle Line | 9.0 | Light and fun with casual gamers. |
| BattleLore | 7.0 | |
| BattleLore: Call to Arms | - | |
| Blokus | 8.0 | A very good abstract game if played 2 against 2. I like other abstract games but this is the only one i like to play. My favorite games are civilization building wargames. Blokus is one of them, if you give it a thought. The most abstract of all. Unfortunately, it seems i am the only one who wants to play this game. |
| Blood Bowl - Third Edition | 8.0 | The game is good. But on the one hand almost everything in the box is obsolete the moment you buy it: rules, sheets, cards, etc. You pay 100 euros and get pratically nothing in return. In the other hand, the online information is excellent. You can't have it all, i guess. |
| Bohnanza | 5.0 | |
| Bonaparte at Marengo | 4.0 | After one game. Very realistic. Great simulation of the battle. The mecanics are not always intuitive, but they are easy to play with (hard to learn the first time). Very much like chess. A bit tiring too. |
| Bridge | 6.0 | I like to play but I do not like the complexity of the rules. |
| Carcassonne | 5.0 | good condition. |
| Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers | 6.0 | only played once. good condition. |
| Cartagena | 7.0 | Fun with kids |
| Category 5 | 8.0 | Well, what can i say? Numbers and brains. Playable at the beach. |
| Checkers | 5.0 | |
| Chess | 7.0 | |
| Chinatown | 9.0 | You like to negotiate real-estate, as in monopoly? Much lesser luck and the same intense moments where everyone is trying to buy the same or sell the same. Only available in German though. But language independent. |
| Citadels | 10.0 | Brilliant. One hour of play with powerful interaction. PROS: strong interaction 1 hour long not at all too complex or brainburner CONS: weak theme |
| Civilization | 6.0 | Powerful game. Very long. |
| Clue | 5.0 | |
| Coloretto | 7.0 | Filler. My whole family fell in love with this one. You can talk while playing. I may talk too much since i never win. |
| Commands Colors: Ancients | 7.0 | It's a must have. The game is very dense for such a short length (a real hour, not more). There are many types of armies and therefore operational and strategic consideration must be accounted. I usually prefer strategic wargames dealing with the whole war instead of simple battles, but this one is short enought and powerfull enough to get me involved. Memoir44 is a bit different, not worse, i guess. Congratulations Mr. Borg! Keep them coming! |
| Condottiere | 9.0 | Fast and with good interaction |
| Corps Command: Totensonntag | 3.0 | Well, I would like to rate the game higher but I just could not finish reading the rules. How can such a short booklet be so complicated! I still want to try to play but my motivation has gone 2 points down. I probably won't find anyone to play soon. |
| Cosmic Encounter | - | |
| Cribbage | 7.0 | interesting |
| Crokinole | 9.0 | Simple and brilliant. |
| Diamant | 9.0 | Great risk management game. For kids too. Fast and fun. |
| Diplomacy | 8.0 | Powerfull theme, good mecanics, simple rules, full interaction (wargame w diplomacy). But a bit too long (4-6h) for so many players needed for a good game (6 or 7pl). Player must be chosen carefully, also. Underated. |
| Domaine | 8.0 | Very good with 2 players too. One of the best shorter games. Real war in a subtle way. |
| Dos Rios | - | Too much operational? never played. good condition. |
| Drunter und Drüber | 4.0 | |
| Dungeon Twister | - | |
| Dungeon Twister 3-4 players expansion | - | |
| Elasund: The First City of Catan | 3.0 | only played once. good condition. |
| End of the Triumvirate, The | 8.0 | One of the first german wargames i play. Lacks the agressive gameplay of traditionnal US wargames. Wallenstein is also german but much more agressive. Much longer too and tiring. That's why i prefer this one. Only for 3 players. |
| Entdecker | 7.0 | Good condition. Bought in the final 90's. Played about 5 times. Goldsieber edition. Fully language independent. |
| Europe Engulfed | 7.0 | |
| Excalibur | - | |
| Fearsome Floors | 8.0 | Fun and short. |
| Fist of Dragonstones | - | |
| For Sale | 7.0 | Excellent filler. 15 min. before or after a longer game. |
| Friedrich | 9.0 | Very good! It is simple enough, real war and with an excelent theme. Bit of down time and can become a bit long (5 to 6h), but rewarding. It can be interesting even when playing with France. |
| Game of Thrones, A | 9.0 | Just the kind of game i like. War, good theme, influence and managment of resources. Playable in 2 to 4 hours, if you consider it a wargame and don't spend your time negociating alliances. 2008: Just finished reading the books published to date. Great adaptation of the theme! |
| Gulo Gulo | 7.0 | My kids like it. |
| Hammer of the Scots | 10.0 | Brilliant, specially the nobles changing sides. Simples rules after the first game. Deserves the best rating. PROS: strong interaction (wargame) great theme not too much thinking CONS: a bit complex, the first time 3 to 4 hours |
| Hare Tortoise | - | |
| Hera and Zeus | 7.0 | |
| HeroScape Expansion Set: Fortress of the Archkyrie | - | |
| HeroScape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie | 9.0 | The basic game is very fun with kids from 5 yo. The normal rules are very fun with adults. One of the great games. |
| Hey! That's My Fish! | - | |
| High Society | 7.0 | LIGHT GAME Same genre as For Sale. |
| House Divided, A | 8.0 | |
| I'm the Boss | 8.0 | FUN! Very good light game! 2007 UPDATE: Still a great game but have been playing it a bit too much. Excellent for non-gamers. Be careful, the game can be very agressive. |
| Igloo Pop | 7.0 | Interesting idea. Fun with kids. |
| Iliade | - | Good condition. |
| Imperial | 10.0 | Top 10 since the first game. A mix between diplomacy and acquire. Very well tested. Blends negociation, strategy and buisiness. The idea is not new, i guess. Some Diplomacy players had thought of it (at least i did long ago, but the first tests were soooo deceiving). But this result exceeds all expectations. Congratulations Mr. Mac Gerdts! PROS: strong interaction theme not too complex or brainburner CONS: 3 to 4 hours |
| Ingenious | 8.0 | |
| Intrigue | - | |
| Jambo | - | German edition. Not at all language independant. Never played. Like new. |
| Junta | 6.0 | |
| Keythedral | - | never played. good condition. |
| Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game | 8.0 | |
| Liar's Dice | 9.0 | Simple and fun. Thinking and bluff. |
| Liberté | - | |
| Lifeboats | 7.0 | Well, a bit like Diplomacy, but without the theme. |
| Loopin' Louie | 7.0 | |
| Lord of the Rings | 7.0 | I like the cooperative aspect of it. The theme is good, of course. Something is missing in this game. |
| Lord of the Rings - Friends Foes | 7.0 | |
| Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation | 7.0 | |
| Lost Cities | 8.0 | |
| Lost Valley | - | |
| Magic: The Gathering CCG | 4.0 | |
| Manhattan | 7.0 | Very good but a bit vicious. |
| Medici | 9.0 | Much better than Modern Art. After 10 plays of this one and 4 of the other. In this one you can see the others progress in the game. In modern art you don't know where you are going (Bohnanza has the same problem either, even if not a bidding game). |
| Memoir '44 | 9.0 | 2PLAYER LIGHT GAME The theme is one of my favorites, the mecanics are great, the rules are very simple, full interaction (wargame), short, 2 players. Just needs a home rule or two. The wargame i play the most. Not the best however. |
| Memoir '44 - Eastern Front | 7.0 | |
| Memoir '44 - Pacific Theater | - | |
| Memoir '44 - Terrain Pack | 7.0 | |
| Memoir '44 - Winter/Desert Board Map | 7.0 | |
| Middle-Earth CCG | - | |
| Mississippi Queen | 9.0 | LIGHT GAME As geekbuddy fgpina says, it's a fun race game. Good theme, good mecanics, simple rules, short. Excellent interaction with 5 players. That's why I only play with 5 players. |
| Modern Art | 5.0 | |
| Money! | 3.0 | |
| Monopoly | 7.0 | |
| MotorChamp | 6.0 | After one play: what is this? Can someone explain where the fun is? If it were only 10 euros... |
| Mr. Jack | 9.0 | Very good until now |
| Mü More | 8.0 | |
| Nacht der Magier | 7.0 | |
| Napoleon - The Waterloo Campaign, 1815 | - | AH version. |
| No Thanks! | 8.0 | Great from 3 to 5 pl. Light game, easy to learn (1 min.) and deep in many ways. Good interaction. |
| Othello | 5.0 | |
| Paths of Glory | - | |
| Pente | 5.0 | |
| Pick Picknic | 7.0 | Good for kids. |
| Pirate's Cove | - | |
| PitchCar | 8.0 | |
| Princes of Florence, The | - | I do not like multiplayer solitaires, i confess. I opened my Princes of Florence box 3 times since 2001 to read the rules but never played. Interesting rules and beautiful components. never played. good condition. |
| Quarto! | 5.0 | |
| Race for the Galaxy | - | |
| Rage | 5.0 | |
| Railroad Tycoon | 10.0 | PROS: theme simple rules not too much thinking CONS: indirect interaction |
| RattleSnake | - | |
| Reef Encounter | - | |
| Risk | 8.0 | |
| Risk - The Lord of the Rings - Trilogy Edition | - | |
| Roma | 8.0 | |
| Rommel | 3.0 | |
| Rommel in the Desert | - | |
| Rumis | 8.0 | |
| Runebound Second Edition | - | |
| Samurai | 7.0 | |
| Santiago | 9.0 | Played once. Liked it for its simplicity and interaction. |
| Scotland Yard | 4.0 | |
| Scrabble | 5.0 | |
| Seafarers of Catan, The - 5-6 Player Expansion | 5.0 | |
| Serenissima | - | |
| Settlers of Catan Card Game, The | 4.0 | |
| Settlers of Catan, The | 7.0 | Every game should be like this one: simple rules, always under 1,5 to 2 hours long, half interaction, half some thinking. THE perfect game. Played too much though. |
| Settlers of Catan, The - 5-6 Player Expansion | 6.0 | |
| Space Dealer | - | |
| Star Wars CCG | - | |
| Stratego | 4.0 | |
| Streetcar | 5.0 | Good condition. Bought in the 90's |
| StreetSoccer | 5.0 | |
| Struggle of Empires | - | |
| Taj Mahal | 3.0 | German alea edition; language independant. Too abstract. Powerful challenge anyway, regarding the auctions and the strategic planning to gain influence. only played once. good condition. German Alea edition; fully language independant (except for the rules). |
| Take it Easy! | 4.0 | |
| Tempus | 9.0 | What can i say? First, it is absolutely underated. Second this civlite is up to the challenge (and what a challenge!). A new Settlers without negociation and with fight? Yes, aproximatly. You manage your civilization and armies through time, fighting your way between ressources and your enemies. Most of all, you get a notion of territorial domination usually only wargames give you the feel. And also you have a sense of evolution of mankind (simplified, all right in a 2 hour game) which is the center of your activity. Simple and brilliant. The kind of game many BGGeeks tend to consider too simple. Well, brainburner games are just the kind of games many people don't like. I am one of them. This is Martin Wallace at its best, with quality gaming very near Age of Steam. In terms of fight, as pleasant as Antique but much shorter, which increases the rate for me. The only negative aspect is the abstract theme. Recommended to gamers and lighter players. |
| Through the Desert | 7.0 | Pure abstract game. It has some interaction and it is fast. Otherwise... My group is a bit indiferent to this one too. BGG rating is somewhat strange. only played once. good condition. German Alea edition; fully language independant (except for the rules). |
| Tichu | 8.0 | |
| Ticket to Ride: Europe | 4.0 | LIGHT GAME
The theme is good, nevertheless a bit abstract, the rules are simple, but there is very few interaction, the duration is 1,5 to 2 hours, which is too much for a simple rules light game. Overall my opinion is not too good. The game should be shorter. It reminds me of abstract multiplayer solitaires Elfenland and Linie 1. Only played twice. Good condition. |
| Tigris Euphrates | 8.0 | Very abstract but very challenging. Has a good level of interaction. |
| Tikal | - | Good condition. Only played once. |
| Torres | 5.0 | Desperatly abstract. Only played twice. Good condition. |
| TransAmerica | 9.0 | My 9 yo favorite game. We play 2 players games or with my youngest (6 yo). Fast and fun. |
| Trivial Pursuit - Genus II | 3.0 | |
| Twilight Struggle | - | |
| Union Pacific | 8.0 | Like AQUIRE but shorter which is good: Interesting theme, excellent mecanics, simple rules, some interaction, good length. |
| UNO | - | |
| UNO - Harry Potter | - | |
| UNO Dice | - | |
| Viktory II | 5.0 | Interesting game. The box says it all: A fast-paced game of strategy and conquest. It can be played in less than 2 hours or more if you want, depending on the victory conditions you select from the rules. Unforgiving and agressive. Very fun. The rulebook is far from perfect but the rules have been tested. Recommended. August07 update: some flaws in game mechanics. Downgraded a bit |
| Villa Paletti | 7.0 | |
| Vinci | 7.0 | Good remake of History of the World. Muuuch shorter. Sthg is missing in this one too. Not much. Have not played since 19.., 18.., well, have to play it soon. |
| Wallenstein | 6.0 | Very strong theme and mecanics. Very brain burner. |
| War of the Ring | 8.0 | This is THE game of the Lord of the Rings world. The mecanics are as simple as Risk concerning the war (rather dicy too, but it's always acceptable for a 2 player game, since no 3rd ou 4th player is waiting for the end of the battle); everything else is also simple (after reading the awful rulebook and using the very good 2 page turn sequence/player aid available in BGG) and fits the theme perfectly. |
| Wings of War - Famous Aces | 5.0 | |
| World in War: Combined Arms 1939-1945 | 8.0 | Simple rules, war, balanced game, a pretty good historical simulation (considering the duration) and fast (WWII in less than 4 hours). Very good. Another underated game. |
| Wyatt Earp | - | |
| You're Bluffing! | 6.0 | Powerful bluffing game. Very good auction mechanism too. Fun. Still, too long for my taste and for this kind of light game. |
